All-Team Meeting — Saturday, June 13th
All families are encouraged to attend. Lots to discuss before our first meets next week. Swimmers will join when practice wraps at 11am and team captains will lead cheers.
Action items from the meeting:
- Sign up for your volunteer obligation — most urgent: our first home meet on Thursday 6/18 still needs 6 timers, 2 for awards, 1 backup timer, 1 MC, and 1 DJ. Sign up here.
- Venmo Molly at least $40 per swimmer toward the coaches gift
- RSVP for meets on TeamSnap
- Sign up for a time slot for the Venetian Booth (June 27, 12:30–4:30pm)
Firecracker Meet Sign-Up Closes Sunday, June 14th
The Firecracker Mini Meet is ages 11–12 only, June 26th at Plum Hollow Golf & Country Club (5pm). RSVP in TeamSnap by June 14th — and while you're there, please RSVP for the rest of the season too. It helps the coaches plan lineups.
Morning Practices Begin Monday, June 15th
We're moving to the outdoor morning schedule. Ages 13+: dryland 8:00–8:30am, swim 8:30–10:00am. Ages 9–12: dryland 9:30–10:00am, swim 10:00–11:00am. 8 & Under: 10:45–11:30am. Learn to Swim follows at 11:30am. Note: there was NO Friday June 12 AM practice — this was a calendar error.
Two Swim Meets Next Week
Tuesday June 16 at Detroit Golf Club — Arrive by 4:15pm. Warm-ups at 4:30pm, meet begins at 5:15pm. DGC is at 17911 Hamilton Road, Detroit, MI 48203. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and buffet for adults. See the info sheet below for full details including dress code, dining, and parking.
Thursday June 18 at DYC vs. Grosse Ile — Home meet. Arrive by 3:45pm.

Lily King Swim Clinic — June 19 & 20
The Birmingham Athletic Club is hosting a clinic with 6-time Olympic medalist Lily King (3x gold, world record holder in breaststroke). 8am–1pm, includes T-shirt, cap, lunch, and photo opportunities. Cost: $200/day. Spots are limited — register at bacsharks.com.
Dive Clinic — Saturday, June 20th
Coach Scott will host a dive clinic on June 20th, 11:30am–1pm in the indoor pool. Includes video analysis and instruction. Cost: $40/person. Limited to 6–8 participants. Designed for kids who can already dive but need work on starting blocks. An intro-level clinic can also be arranged with enough interest. Contact Coach Scott directly to sign up.
Venetian Festival Booth — June 27, 12:30–4:30pm
DYC is hosting the 2027 MICSA Finals and we're raising funds by selling raffle tickets at the Venetian Festival. We need parent + kid pairs for 1-hour slots. Sign up through the Volunteer page.
Team Suits & Caps
Swimsuit orders from Different Strokes closed June 1st. If you ordered before May 22nd, contact Laura Palen at lpalen@gmail.com to coordinate pickup. Team swim caps are available for everyone starting June 8th.
